Overview

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a dedicated professional to oversee the daily management of surplus inventory and support sustainability initiatives. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient operations related to surplus property, e-waste, and recycling efforts.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the entire lifecycle of surplus property, including surrender, storage, and documentation.
  • Coordinating with the Logistics Manager to facilitate the collection and transportation of surplus materials.
  • Overseeing financial aspects, including budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Leading a team, including hiring, performance evaluations, and providing professional development opportunities.
  • Maintaining and updating the website for sales and inventory management.
  • Implementing marketing strategies to promote surplus property sales.
  • Ensuring the organization and layout of the sales floor are optimized for efficiency.
  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with vendors and non-profit organizations to enhance surplus property processing.
  • Supporting the University’s sustainability goals through effective recycling and diversion programs.
Physical Requirements

This position may require sitting, standing, and walking, with the ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
