Position Overview:

As a Structural Engineering Consultant, you will provide expert forensic consulting services for a diverse clientele, including insurance companies, legal firms, and industrial clients. Your role will involve assessing and identifying the causes of structural failures, damage, and construction defects, as well as evaluating the extent and feasibility of repairs. You will also be responsible for preparing detailed reports and providing expert testimony when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough investigations and analyses of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal disputes.
  • Perform forensic evaluations based on predetermined scopes of work and budgets agreed upon with clients.
  • Field Investigations: Analyze and ascertain the causes of construction defects or structural failures, including gathering photographic evidence, conducting site assessments, and reviewing relevant documentation.
  • Prepare comprehensive oral and written reports detailing findings, loss assessments, and recommended remediation strategies, as well as provide expert opinions in litigation.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with other experts to ensure timely delivery of client reports.
  • Adhere to established procedures while ensuring safety and due diligence throughout project execution.
  • Foster and maintain positive client relationships to support business development.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required in the state of employment or the ability to obtain it promptly.
  • 2-10+ years of relevant experience, with a preference for project management or field investigation experience.
  • Additional licenses or certifications may be required based on location.

  • High analytical aptitude with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in various software applications, including Microsoft Office and engineering design tools.
  • Adept at interpreting scientific and technical documents, financial reports, and legal materials.
  • Capable of drafting scopes of work, budget estimates, schedules, and technical reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information to clients and stakeholders at all levels.
Work Environment:

This role involves a combination of office work and field investigations at various sites. Physical demands include standing, walking on sloped surfaces, climbing, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Travel Requirements:

Expect up to 50% local/regional travel, with occasional overnight trips.
