Job Description:

The HVAC Assistant Supervisor will assist the HVAC Supervisor in managing the efficient operation of facility systems to support the mission and goals of CNSE and the site. This includes:

  • Assisting the HVAC Supervisor in effectively managing assigned personnel to meet 24/7 facility coverage and maintain facility goal of 99% uptime for HVAC systems
  • Providing direction to HVAC technicians to maintain performance specification for cleanroom environments as well as other facility spaces
  • Identifying management training opportunities to develop skills in leadership, planning, conflict management, decision making, and communications
  • Assisting the HVAC Supervisor in implementing comprehensive Preventive Maintenance programs for facility equipment in CMMS system
  • Helping plan, assign, and distribute work orders and work requests, ensuring technicians are entering appropriate data into CMMS and completing work orders in a timely fashion
  • Helping supervise maintenance and repair activities
  • Assisting the HVAC Supervisor with guidance and support of technicians with training of existing and new staff members in CMMS
  • Assisting and supporting the training of existing and new staff members in various other trade-related systems and programs
  • Assisting the HVAC Supervisor with training technicians in all capacities of operating procedures, completion of work orders, mentoring, and verification of technician knowledge training, SOP review, and project completion planning
  • Assisting the HVAC Supervisor in establishing, assigning, and adjusting work methods and procedures to meet schedules using knowledge of capacities and capabilities of personnel and equipment
  • Assisting in the training and instruction of employees in new methods or procedures
  • Providing technical assistance to mechanics and inspecting work in process for quality and ensuring its completion within allotted time limits
  • Working with Facilities Engineering on new construction and renovation projects, providing input and recommendations on system design, equipment selection, and means and methods of construction
  • Helping interpret policies and procedures to assigned personnel and enforcing safety regulations and adherence to required codes and standards
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A technical trade degree with a minimum of 4 years of related HVAC/mechanical work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience of Mechanical/HVAC staff in a facility operations environment
  • OR a minimum of 3 years of Mechanical/HVAC work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience of Mechanical/HVAC staff in a facility operations environment
  • EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification
  • Good personal relations and communication skills
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to carry and respond to cell phone/emails outside of regularly scheduled work hours
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population
