Position Summary:
The Certified Inpatient Pharmacy Technician II plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists by preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications. This position operates under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring the highest standards of pharmaceutical care.

This role is eligible for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which offers $1500 in commitment incentives distributed over a two-year period, with payments made at six months, one year, and two years of service.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and compound medications, including sterile products and controlled substances, as authorized by a physician, under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.

  2. Deliver and exchange medications to designated patient areas while returning unused medications to the pharmacy.
  3. Document pharmaceutical activities accurately, including patient billing and quality control, utilizing both automated and manual systems.
  4. Assist customers with pharmacy services, addressing inquiries related to medication delivery and drug information.
  5. Utilize automated dispensing technology to ensure the correct medications are provided to patients as per pharmacist and physician orders.
  6. Manage inventory by ordering, receiving, restocking, and ensuring proper rotation and expiration date management.
  7. Support the training of new staff members, providing education on job-specific functions.
  8. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy operations.
  9. Conduct regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas, including controlled substance inventories and necessary documentation.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program is preferred but not mandatory if other qualifications are met.

Licensure/Certification:
  • Must be registered with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
  • CPhT certification from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.

Experience:
  • Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
