Role Summary:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting pharmacists by preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications. All tasks are performed under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.

This position is eligible for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which offers $1500 in commitment incentives distributed over a two-year period. Payments are made after six months, one year, and two years of service. Discover more about the Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program here:

Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepares and compounds medications (including sterile products, oral, topical, controlled substances, etc.) as per the defined high-risk medication processes, authorized by a physician, under the guidance of a licensed Pharmacist.
2. Delivers and exchanges medications to designated patient areas and returns unused medications to the pharmacy.
3. Accurately documents pharmaceutical activities, including patient billing for medications and equipment, quality control requirements, utilizing both automated and manual systems.
4. Responds to customer inquiries regarding pharmacy services such as medication delivery and drug information.
5. Operates automated dispensing technology to ensure the correct medications are supplied for individual patients, following pharmacist and physician orders.
6. Manages inventory by ordering, receiving, restocking, and rotating supplies, while ensuring expiration date compliance.
7. Aids in the training of new staff, providing education on job-specific tasks.
8. Participates in process improvement initiatives.
9. Conducts regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas, including inspections and controlled substance inventories, as well as maintaining necessary documentation as required by regulations.


Additional Information

Education Requirements:
● No specific education required if other qualifications are met. Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
● Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
