Certified Inpatient Pharmacy Technician II

Position Overview:
The Certified Inpatient Pharmacy Technician II plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists by reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. All activities are conducted under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compounds and prepares various medications, including sterile products, oral, topical, and controlled substances, as authorized by a physician and under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Delivers and exchanges medications within the patient care areas, ensuring the return of unused medications to the pharmacy.
- Maintains accurate documentation of pharmaceutical activities, including patient billing for medications and equipment, as well as quality control requirements, utilizing both automated and manual systems.
- Responds to customer inquiries regarding pharmacy services, including medication delivery and drug information.
- Operates automated dispensing technologies to ensure the correct medications are supplied according to orders from pharmacists and physicians.
- Manages inventory by ordering, receiving, restocking, and rotating stock, while also overseeing expiration date management.
- Assists in training new staff members, providing education on job-specific functions.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives.
- Conducts regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas, including controlled substance inventories and necessary documentation.
Additional Information:
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED; completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Registration with the appropriate Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
- CPhT certification from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
