Position Overview:
The Pet Groomer at Pet Lodge Pet Resort operates on a commission basis and reports directly to the General Manager. Role Significance:
This position is crucial for enhancing the well-being of pets and their owners. As a Pet Groomer, you will contribute to the health and happiness of animals by ensuring they are clean and well-groomed. Your daily tasks will include grooming pets with appointments, accommodating walk-ins, and caring for boarding guests. Responsibilities will range from full grooming sessions to simple baths and occasional urgent clean-ups. You will interact with both pets and their owners, documenting observations that may help address health concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a positive grooming experience characterized by compassion, gentleness, and safety.
  • Ensure all pets are groomed or bathed according to the specifications provided by their owners, completing tasks punctually.
  • Coordinate with Resort Hosts to manage grooming appointments, including onboarding new clients and discussing vaccination requirements.
  • Engage with clients to clarify grooming instructions and provide feedback post-grooming, including offering suggestions for additional services.
  • Respond promptly to all communications, including phone calls and emails, and work towards rescheduling appointments to foster client relationships.
  • Address any customer service issues to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Maintain grooming tools to guarantee high-quality grooming standards and report any supply needs to management.
  • Uphold cleanliness and hygiene standards in your workspace, ensuring a sanitary environment for both pets and staff.
  • Monitor the health of pets during grooming sessions and report any concerns to management and pet owners.
  • Provide pets with water and bathroom breaks as necessary during longer grooming sessions.
  • Follow safety protocols, especially when handling pets that may be aggressive or anxious.
  • Ensure accurate identification of pets during their stay with us.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed.
Team Qualities:
  • A genuine passion for animal care, particularly for dogs and cats, with a commitment to learning about animal behavior.
  • Focus on safe and gentle handling techniques, avoiding any aggressive or aversive methods.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to manage challenging situations and build trust with clients.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to foster long-term client relationships.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 60 lbs, and working in various conditions.
  • Conflict resolution skills to handle situations with professionalism.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to assist colleagues across departments.
  • Attention to detail, particularly in documentation and grooming standards.
  • Reliability and punctuality in all work-related commitments.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • Capability to work independently while following directives.
  • Comfort with close contact with animals and the ability to maintain a clean work environment.
Qualifications:
Education: Professional Grooming Certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
Experience:
  • Two to four years of professional grooming experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of breed standards and grooming techniques.
