Strategic Risk and Controls Lead, Senior Executive

This high-profile leadership position oversees the bank's business risk and controls functions within the first line of defense. Responsibilities include managing a team of specialists in financial crimes, fraud, business continuity, vendor management, and issues management.

The successful candidate will develop formal risk and controls methodologies suitable for a high-performing community bank with a strong focus on commercial lending. This includes designing and implementing a formal risk and controls self-assessment program, as well as formalized controls testing and issues management.

Additional responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of appropriate technology for risk and controls functions, leading root cause analysis of issues, and recommending comprehensive corrective actions and improvements to remedy issues that arise.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong understanding of banking laws, rules, and regulations
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the bank
  • 10+ years' experience in operational risk, preferably managing a high-achieving team
  • Baccalaureate or equivalent required; masters or equivalent preferred
