Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Inspector to join our team at CTL Engineering. As a key member of our construction administration and inspection services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications on construction projects.
  • Read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county, and local roadway and bridge projects, as well as municipal utility or infrastructure projects.
  • Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and proposals.
  • Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
  • Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
  • Notify the Contractor or Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
  • Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate, and reinforcing steel.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing, and inspection principles.
  • Experience with materials and lab testing.
  • Experience with quality control testing and compliance specifications.
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.
  • Understanding of construction or engineering services.
  • Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing.
  • Skill in lab reporting, writing reports, and maintaining records.
  • Ability to manage projects with little/no supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor construction and demolition environments.
  • Must be able to interact well with others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
  • Ability to provide status updates independently.
  • Be quality-minded and client-focused.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Construction inspection experience on ODOT funded projects.
  • Familiarity with highway construction specifications and previous field experience.
  • Previous experience working for a testing company.
  • Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing.
  • Experience with field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, structural steel, and fireproofing, etc.
  • Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Tech, NICET Level II Soils, ICC Special inspections.
