Role Summary:
Under general supervision, this position assists in delivering high-quality food services tailored to meet the nutritional needs of individuals across all age groups, from infants to seniors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, aiding in the preparation and distribution of meal trays for patients/residents, working in the dishwashing area, and performing various cleaning tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the principles of care and expected behaviors as outlined in the MercyOne Model of Caring and Trinity Health's Code of Conduct, ensuring all customers are treated in alignment with the organization's Mission and Values.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as Trinity Health's Organizational Integrity Program and Standards of Conduct, to ensure compliance and reflect ethical and professional behavior.
- Exhibit the Mission and Values of MercyOne through daily actions.
- Engage in positive communication while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Demonstrate flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
- Assist in preparing meal trays by ensuring the station is set up and menu items are prepared according to guidelines.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for food service, utilizing appropriate cleaning chemicals.
- Responsible for cleaning the station, preparing dishes and utensils for washing, and properly storing them post-cleaning.
- Contribute to positive changes within the department and collaborate effectively with other departments.
- Foster effective relationships within the department, with other departments, medical staff, and hospital guests.
- Take an active role in personal and professional development to enhance job performance.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- No prior experience is necessary; on-the-job training will be provided.
- A high school diploma is preferred but not mandatory.
- Completion of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
- Maintain a professional and collaborative work environment to uphold a positive public image for MercyOne.
- Understand and comply with all laws and regulations related to patient health, safety, food safety, and medical information (e.g., HIPAA).
- Ability to read, speak, and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Capability to perform basic calculations.
- Manual dexterity and coordination required to operate food service equipment and serve food.
- Effective communication skills.
- Maintain a cordial and courteous demeanor in interactions with co-workers, staff, patients/residents, and guests.
