Associate Director of Pathology

Overview
Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking an Associate Director of Pathology to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. As a key member of our pathology department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality diagnostic services to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Participate in internal/external quality assurance, performance improvement activities, and departmental meetings.
- Assume responsibility for lab director duties during their absence or as needed.
- Supervise and instruct residents/fellows on general surgical and clinical pathology, intraoperative consultation, and cytology.
- Share autopsy service responsibilities and supervise residents/fellows performing autopsies.
- Organize daily surgical case review conferences and review clinical cases in multidisciplinary conferences.
- Participate in pathology resident and student teaching, as well as pathology service management and quality improvement activities.
- Maintain good communications with regulatory, administrative, and government officials, and provide expertise to other laboratory sections.
- Address issues requiring immediate attention and inform leadership of such situations.
- Practice and enforce National Patient Safety Goals, CAP Patient Safety Goals, and HIPAA.
- Serve as a faculty member of SUNY Downstate medical school and engage in medical student teaching.
- Take anatomic and clinical pathology on-call duty and participate in other clinical activities as requested.
Qualifications
- Completion of accredited residency/fellowship in the specialty and subspecialty, and AP/CP board certification.
Benefits
- Annual base salary: $247,000, with additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.
- 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other benefits.
