As a valued member of the Slcolibrary team, the Library Customer Service Specialist plays a critical role in providing exceptional public service to our patrons. This position is responsible for delivering top-notch customer service in the circulation area, ensuring a positive experience for all library users.
**Key Responsibilities**
• Provides public service at the Circulation Desk, responding to inquiries and resolving customer account problems in a professional and courteous manner.
• Collects payments for fines, fees, and other library services, maintaining accurate records and handling cash transactions with precision.
• Assists patrons with library materials, including checking out and returning items, placing holds, and renewing materials.
• Provides information about library services, programs, and policies, promoting a culture of literacy and lifelong learning.
• Fills and processes hold requests, ensuring timely delivery of materials to patrons.
• Utilizes PC and specialized software, payment transaction systems, and other library equipment to perform daily tasks efficiently.
• Performs assigned support tasks, including sorting, shelving, and other clerical duties to maintain a clean and organized library environment.
**Requirements**
• One year of related work experience in customer service, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to successfully complete library software and cash handling procedures training within 60 days of hire date.
• Must pass a required background investigation due to the nature of this position.
**Working Conditions**
• This is a part-time position with benefits, working in a dynamic and team-oriented environment.
