Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welding Lead to join our team at Metalcraft of Mayville. As a Welding Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the manual and robotic weld department, ensuring high-quality products and efficient production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Department Supervisor in directing the work activities of the welders
  • Ensure parts are made correctly and schedule is being followed
  • Communicate information, assist in resolving problems, and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and maintain all equipment, machines, and supplies within the department
  • Assist with cost savings, continuous improvements, and more efficient ways to run the weld operations
  • Follow all company rules, policies, and regulations, ensuring compliance with corporate and plant safety standards
  • Maintain company safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity standards
  • Read job specifications to determine type of welding and material requirements
  • Use equipment and supplies to perform work in accordance with operational standards
  • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment and machines
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations

Qualifications

  • High school degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution
  • Understanding of welding fundamentals
  • Basic welding experience and/or training
  • Basic knowledge of Mig Welding Equipment
  • Successful completion of internal weld test
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to efficiently assist in leading a team and coordinate work with other departments
  • Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently
  • Knowledge of welding equipment and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret documents like blueprints, welding symbols, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Basic Computer knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within a highly technical environment
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Previous experience working within a weld department
  • Previous forklift experience
  • Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment
  • General understanding of Metric and Standard systems
  • Associates degree in a related technical field
  • Prior lead experience, preferably in a weld department
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • SAP experience
