Essential Functions:
This role involves overseeing and executing supervisory and technical mechanical tasks in a facility dedicated to the repair and maintenance of vehicles, trucks, and heavy machinery.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Planning, coordinating, and supervising operations within a fleet maintenance shop.
  • Assigning tasks to mechanics and assistants engaged in the upkeep and repair of automotive and heavy-duty equipment.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the work of assigned personnel, ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Conducting inspections and tests on equipment to identify defects and failures.
  • Diagnosing complex mechanical issues and recommending maintenance solutions.
  • Determining optimal repair methods and performing necessary mechanical tasks as needed.
  • Managing requisitions for repair parts and supplies, and overseeing documentation of work performed.
  • Conducting performance evaluations and addressing personnel development matters.
  • Engaging with customers and vendors to resolve service-related issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates should possess a strong understanding of heavy equipment maintenance practices, including:
  • Familiarity with tools and techniques used in the automotive service industry.
  • Knowledge of the operational characteristics of various equipment types.
  • Ability to implement safety measures and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Capacity to lead and instruct skilled mechanics and support staff.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical defects and conducting effective repairs.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of ten years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair, including three years in a supervisory role. A valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License is required within six months of employment, with a Class A license preferred.

Special Requirements:
Candidates must possess a complete set of tools necessary for the automotive service trade and be prepared to work in various conditions as required.
