Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at the County of Gaston. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing mechanical repairs on various types of highway use vehicles and heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical repairs on heavy equipment and vehicles using manuals and parts books for reference.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance such as oil changes and lubrication to adhere to the Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Order parts and supplies as needed.
  • Clean and maintain equipment repair shop, and service shop equipment and tools to ensure a clean, safe, and productive facility.
  • Perform any duty required to keep equipment running.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least two years of related equipment maintenance and repair experience.
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
Work Environment

This position requires daily involvement with work that involves a chance of major injury or loss of life and prolonged exposure to hazardous working conditions or severe weather conditions.

Typically requires the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, and to lift up to 50 pounds.
