About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Commercial Metals Company. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and uphold the CMC Safety Culture
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, following safety regulations
  • Conserves maintenance resources by efficiently using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Possess proficient skills utilizing hand tools, power tools, and precision tools for performing all facets of the repair and maintenance process
  • Ability to interact and communicate with co-workers, company leaders, and customers in a positive manner required
  • Operates and troubleshoots issues with mobile equipment, including loaders, forklifts, trucks, and other equipment
  • Services machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulic systems, mobile, and stationary equipment
  • Repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, body repair, and replacing parts and components
  • Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
  • Maintains specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage
Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Experience with a wide variety of tools related to mechanics and hydraulics
  • Experience with basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, mobile equipment, and vehicles
  • Possess proficient skills utilizing hand tools, power tools, and precision tools for performing all facets of the repair and maintenance process
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience, including repair on diesel engines
  • Possess specific fundamental knowledge of bearings, power transmission equipment, electrical, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, fluid pumping systems, and heat transfer
