Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies for assigned schools and colleges, leveraging relationships with academic leaders, alumni, and donors.
  • Lead a team of development professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure successful fundraising outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior-level leadership volunteers, committees, and stakeholders to advance the university's philanthropic goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, and foundation relations, to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to fundraising.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, with a focus on securing six-figure and higher gifts to support strategic priorities.
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising performance metrics, making data-driven decisions to optimize fundraising strategies and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 14 years of directly related experience in development and alumni engagement, with 8 years of demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising, including comprehensive management of major and principal gift prospects.
  • Strong development credentials, with campaign leadership/management experience and a proven track record of building and developing a high-level portfolio.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and strategies to various audiences.
  • Superb judgment and the sensibility to adjudicate wisely among competing priorities, with a strong sense of purpose and a tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a strong team-oriented mindset and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
What We Offer

Boston University offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $240,000 - $260,000 annually, depending on experience. The university also provides a comprehensive benefits package, which adds significantly to the employee's total compensation package.
