MLex US, Inc. is in search of a seasoned journalist to report on the intricacies of intellectual property governance, legislative actions, and enforcement, with a primary emphasis on the United States Patent and Trademark Office and federal judiciary.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in covering legislative bodies, the federal court system, and relevant state or federal agencies, along with a passion for collaborating with fellow journalists.
At MLex, we foster a collaborative atmosphere, and the reporter will often engage with colleagues focused on similar issues in various global locations. This position provides opportunities to uncover stories related to patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. The successful applicant will be adept at crafting comprehensive articles that explore the ramifications of legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Compose clear and structured news articles and analytical pieces.
- Identify and compile pertinent information from public records and other resources.
- Draft concise summaries highlighting essential details from those records.
- Develop and update portfolios containing relevant data.
- Collaborate with reporters and editors to ensure portfolio completeness.
Qualifications
- Experience in reporting on intellectual property or related fields.
- Proven ability to mentor junior journalists.
- A Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a legal discipline.
- Strong writing capabilities and a proactive approach to shaping MLex's coverage.
- Ability to analyze events and documents, providing context and identifying overarching trends.
- A background in law and/or experience within news or legal organizations is preferred.
