Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Propulsion Systems Engineer to join our Starshield program at SpaceX. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in electric propulsion, academic research, or professional experience designing, testing, and analyzing such systems.

This role involves designing, analyzing, testing, and providing operational support for the most highly produced spacecraft electric thruster in history. You will work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure efficient, reliable, and high-rate production.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Designing and analyzing electric propulsion systems
  • Testing and evaluating system performance
  • Providing operational support and troubleshooting
  • Collaborating with the manufacturing team to optimize production

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of vacuum chamber operations, thermodynamics, structural design, electromagnetism, plasma physics, and materials properties. Proficiency in programming languages like Python, C/C++, and Matlab is also required.

A Bachelor's degree in an aerospace, physics, mechanical or other engineering discipline is necessary, with a Master's degree preferred.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 per year, depending on experience.
