Job Description

As an Electric Propulsion Engineer II at SpaceX, you'll play a critical role in the development and implementation of our electric propulsion systems. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, analyzing, testing, and providing operational support for our electric thrusters
  • Collaborating with our manufacturing team to ensure efficient, reliable, high-rate production
  • Developing and executing qualification test plans to ensure readiness for flight
  • Balancing rigor with risk tolerance to optimize the performance of our electric propulsion systems

You'll need to have a strong foundation in electrical engineering, with expertise in areas such as vacuum chamber operations, thermodynamics, structural design, electromagnetism, plasma physics, and materials properties. Additionally, proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and Matlab is essential.

The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a highly cross-functional environment, prioritizing and executing tasks in a high-pressure environment while maintaining a high level of self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail. We offer a competitive salary range of $115,000 to $135,000 per year, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. A 10% differential, up to an additional $15,000 annually, may be applicable for those with an active clearance.
