Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach Construction Management courses at Fox Valley Technical College. The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction management and be able to effectively communicate with students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement.
  • Assess student learning and provide regular feedback to help students be successful.
  • Classroom management, including maintaining accurate student attendance and grade records, maintaining an instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensuring opportunities for student engagement evaluation.
  • Team participation, including supporting the college by engaging with the division, department, and team members, as well as staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
  • Business and community engagement, including building and maintaining ongoing relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners, and proactively promoting the College and our programs.
  • Student success and support, including serving as an advocate for students and collaborating with Student Services staff to retain students, close achievement gaps, and help all students be successful.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or Associate's degree with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of two years of occupational experience in a target job for the program or programs being taught, or one year of recent related occupational experience with at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
  • Qualified per FVTC requirements at time of, and throughout employment as an instructor.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Procore, Construction Finance Management, Construction Engineering, MEP, and LEED Green Associate certification.
  • Proficiency utilizing learning management system.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Adapt quickly to changing demands, assignments, and circumstances to meet student needs.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with various audiences.
  • Engage in continuous improvement in the quality of instruction by embracing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
Work Environment

The work environment may change based upon college needs. The role requires extended periods of sitting while performing tasks and utilizing computer systems. Occasional mobility may be necessary for attending meetings, office tours, or events within the workplace. The role requires occasional/continuous lifting and carrying of light to moderate items (up to 50lbs). Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle, if driving is a requirement of the position.
