Position Overview: Cluster Substitute Teacher at Boston Public Schools

As a college preparatory and vocational high school, we cater to students interested in pursuing careers in health. With significant funding, our school is expanding its offerings and pathways in health careers, aiming to equip graduates with opportunities for rewarding employment.
Role Responsibilities:
Cluster Substitute Teachers are responsible for covering teacher absences for a maximum of ten days per instance.
Daily assignments may differ based on the needs of the school.
Essential Skills:
Establishes ambitious educational objectives for all learners, regularly evaluates student progress, and effectively interprets data.
Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of child development, formulates effective support strategies, and tailors learning experiences to meet diverse needs.
Creates a conducive learning atmosphere, actively engages all students, and modifies instruction to ensure curriculum accessibility.
Fosters an inclusive environment that respects and acknowledges students' varied backgrounds.
Collaborates with families, connects with students' experiences, and sets clear expectations for academic and personal growth.
Continuously reflects on teaching practices, works alongside colleagues, and supports the academic, behavioral, and social/emotional needs of students.
Qualifications Required:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Authorization to work in the United States.
Successful completion of a screening interview and a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possession of a Massachusetts Teaching License relevant to the assigned subject and grade level.
Experience in educational or community settings, particularly in urban environments.
Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, especially those fluent in languages such as Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
