Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Central Transport Manager, this Patient Transporter PD will transport patients and patient-related materials throughout the hospital campus. The ideal candidate will work primarily in outpatient clinical areas, such as the Fain Health Center (FHC), and demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients and materials within the hospital and to and from outside facilities.
  • Assist clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds, chairs, wheelchairs, and/or stretchers.
  • Support department areas as directed by the dispatcher.
  • Collect and sign off specimens, cultures, orders, and requisitions, and deliver items to appropriate destinations.
  • Deliver audiovisual equipment.
  • Maintain established department policies and procedures related to quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
Requirements
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Physical ability to perform essential duties.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, visual acuity, and skills necessary to provide correct patient identification.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This role will work in a healthcare environment, such as acute care hospitals, physician's offices, and ancillary healthcare enterprises. The ideal candidate will be able to work with transport equipment and have direct patient contact, taking standard precautions and proper PPE as directed by Nursing personnel when transporting barrier patients.
