Chicago, Illinois, United States DRW Full time

Market Operations Analyst

Job Location: Chicago

Employment Type: Regular

Department: Operations

DRW is a multifaceted trading organization with over 30 years of expertise in merging advanced technology with talented individuals to engage in global markets. We prioritize independence and the agility to swiftly adapt to seize opportunities, operating with our own capital and trading at our own risk.

With our headquarters in Chicago and additional offices across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia, we engage in a diverse range of asset classes including Fixed Income, ETFs, Equities, FX, Commodities, and Energy across all major global markets. Furthermore, we have expanded our proficiency and technology into three innovative strategies: real estate, venture capital, and cryptoassets.

Our workplace is characterized by respect, curiosity, and open-mindedness. Individuals who excel here share our conviction that the manner in which we conduct our business is as significant as the business itself. DRW embodies high expectations, integrity, innovation, and a readiness to challenge the status quo.

As a Market Operations Analyst, you will become a vital member of our Global Trading Operations team, providing dedicated support to DRW's Agricultural and Energy trading desks. Your primary responsibilities will encompass trade entry, trade verification, reconciliation, and profit-and-loss analysis, necessitating effective communication with both front office traders and back-office personnel, as well as senior management in both divisions. Exceptional communication skills are essential, as you will regularly interact with various teams across the firm, including risk management, technology, and the firm's partnership. The ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment while maintaining professionalism is crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership and develop expertise in the processes and workflows essential for supporting standard operational and trader assistant functions of the Agricultural and Energy trading desks.
  • Conduct trade and position reconciliation with the firm's clearing firms, prime brokers, and bilateral counterparties.
  • Perform daily profit-and-loss calculations and substantiation, ensuring that workflows align with DRW's standards while accommodating each desk's preferred reporting methods.
  • Master the firm's proprietary and third-party trade capture, inventory management, and profit-and-loss reporting systems necessary for supporting desk activities.
  • Serve as a process super-user for current workflows, addressing issues that may arise between internal groups at DRW and multiple external exchanges, clearers, and counterparties.
  • Identify and implement efficiencies within existing processes by leveraging technology to create innovative solutions that enhance workflow, mitigate risk, and improve operational performance.
  • Provide critical support and advice regarding necessary enhancements to technology, workflows, and processes as a process super-user for current systems.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of traders' individual risk management tools and support their related needs.
  • Upgrade and support traders' tools to leverage firm-standard technologies and tools.
  • Collaborate with technical personnel to ensure adequate support for ongoing operations and procure enhancements for insufficient or new workflows, always focusing on process efficiency, risk reduction, and alignment with DRW standards.
  • Work closely with the Business Liaison team to ensure the correct onboarding of new desks, traders, and products.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance or trading.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven ability to independently and swiftly resolve problems under pressure.
  • Proficient in handling sensitive financial data appropriately.
  • Strong skills in MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with option structures and physical trading.
  • Previous interaction with front office and senior management personnel in an active trading environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, or another programming language.
  • Experience working with databases and utilizing data from APIs is preferred.
