Our Mission:

The Markets Group of the Federal Reserve System executes monetary policy on behalf of the Federal Reserve, conducts lender of last resort operations for depository institutions, provides payment and custody services to foreign central banks, and serves as the fiscal agent for the U.S. Treasury. Additionally, the Markets Group oversees the development, production, and governance of benchmark reference rates, including the Effective Federal Funds Rate (EFFR) and the Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR).

We are looking for Analysts to join our Money Markets and Reference Rates teams, reporting to the Associate Director of each team. This role offers the chance to work collaboratively with a diverse array of professionals across the Markets Group and the broader Federal Reserve System.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess developments within assigned specialty markets and the broader financial landscape.
  • Generate high-quality written and verbal communications for various stakeholders.
  • Plan and execute open market operations and reference rate production in line with established risk management protocols.
  • Engage in ad-hoc projects related to central banking policy, monetary authority, operations, and financial market analysis.
  • Maintain relationships with market participants to gather market intelligence.
  • Stay informed about crisis lending tools relevant to the markets covered to support their re-establishment as directed by governing authorities.

Qualifications:

  • Proven interest in economics, financial markets, monetary policy, statistics, data science, or a related field through previous experiences, including academic coursework.
  • Experience in managing and analyzing large datasets from various sources, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with, or eagerness to learn, advanced data analysis software (such as SQL, Python, R, GitHub, or Alteryx).

Salary Range:

Chicago: $139,450 / year

New York: $158,500 / year
