Position Overview

Job Title: Fire Alarm Installation Technician
Reports to: NICET II Fire Alarm Technician, Fire Alarm Manager

Kline Electric is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Fire Alarm Installation Technician. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and compliance of fire alarm systems in various environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough pre-work assessments to identify potential challenges in project execution.
  • Maintain effective communication with the installation team to clarify system component requirements.
  • Engage in the programming, testing, and commissioning of fire alarm systems.
  • Perform system tests to meet submittal requirements and coordinate live tests with local code enforcement authorities.
  • Be prepared for potential overnight stays at company-provided accommodations for remote projects.
  • Adapt and learn new systems on the job, applying knowledge to system integrations.
  • Work across diverse settings, including both established and new construction sites.
  • Oversee the final execution of project scopes and specifications, including any change orders.
  • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for emergency service dispatch.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of combined experience in fire alarm and electrical work.

Certification Requirements:

  • NICET I Certification (Required)
  • NICET II Certification (Preferred)
  • Ability to obtain state alarm license (includes required background screening)
  • Ability to obtain aerial lift certification
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Valid driver's license (must be maintained)
  • PREA training and certification (may be required)
  • Site-specific safety and background screening (may be required)

Physical Requirements:

  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Able to work on ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lift platforms.
  • May need to work in confined spaces while adhering to safety standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues.

Recommended Skills:

  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm systems, security systems, access control, and integration controls.
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of electrical and building systems, including HVAC and automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints effectively.
