Senior Infant Educator

Naperville, Illinois, United States Guidepost Montessori Full time
Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Infant Educator to join our nurturing community at Guidepost Montessori.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Infant Educator, you will play a crucial role in fostering a supportive environment for infants, encouraging their growth, exploration, and autonomy.

In our Montessori setting, educators meticulously design an atmosphere that promotes independence and engages a child's curiosity. You will provide tailored support to each infant, working with them individually and in small groups, demonstrating the use of materials and guiding them through activities while offering precise language to enhance their understanding of experiences.

The thoughtfully prepared environment and personalized assistance allow infants to explore freely and engage with materials of their choice for extended periods. Most importantly, this support cultivates essential skills, confidence, and a strong belief in their capabilities.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Infant Educator:

  • Carefully observe each infant to understand and address their physical, intellectual, and emotional needs.
  • Respect the natural rhythms of sleeping, eating, and toileting for each child.
  • Create a beautiful, organized environment that encourages trust, exploration, deep learning, and independence.
  • Foster independence and self-assurance by empowering children to accomplish tasks independently.
  • Build personal connections with each infant and nurture a community of respect.
  • Engage in respectful communication and collaboration with parents to ensure optimal care for every child.

The Montessori Prepared Environment

Every classroom at Guidepost is equipped with a comprehensive range of high-quality Montessori materials tailored for the infant/toddler curriculum, along with a budget for educators to personalize their spaces. Each classroom is arranged according to Montessori principles of beauty and order, designed to enable every child to explore, learn, and confidently achieve their independence.

Features of a Guidepost Montessori Space:

  • Ample open space for movement and exploration.
  • Child-sized furniture and materials to promote independence.
  • Curriculum designed for independence in self-care tasks such as dressing, feeding, and toilet learning.
  • Scientifically crafted learning materials to enhance fine and gross motor skills.
  • Cozy rugs, natural plants, and abundant natural light.
  • Breakable items made from natural materials like wood and metal instead of plastic.

If you are passionate about equipping children with the tools they need to thrive, eager to collaborate with parents on their child's journey, and excited to join a supportive community of educators, we would love to hear from you.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Possession or willingness to obtain a Montessori diploma for ages 0-3.
  • Experience working with children aged 0-3 in group settings such as daycare or nursery.
  • Familiarity with child-led educational philosophies such as Reggio Emilia or Montessori, or a willingness to learn.
  • Completion of 6 Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development credits.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in any field.

What We Offer:

  • The chance to contribute to a high-quality Montessori program that caters to the individual needs of each child.
  • Sponsored Montessori diploma and ongoing professional development through the Prepared Montessorian Institute.
  • Tuition discounts for children attending any school within our network.
  • A supportive network of peers and mentors who value your contributions and share best practices.
  • Opportunities for career advancement and promotion.
  • A competitive salary and benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
