Software Developer for Rocket Engines

We are seeking a highly skilled software developer to join our team at Blue Origin, where you will be responsible for creating software used by our design, analysis, and test teams. Your primary focus will be on developing tools for modeling the performance of liquid rocket engine components.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of finite volume and/or finite element analysis and numerical methods, as well as experience building or modifying solvers for fluid dynamics and/or heat transfer. You should also be proficient in Python or MATLAB and have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

In this role, you will work closely with engineering teams to gather requirements and build software that meets or exceeds those requirements. You will also plan roadmaps for development projects, communicate progress to stakeholders, and document and validate all delivered code.

Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience developing software for performing analysis.
  • 1+ years of experience building or modifying solvers for fluid dynamics and/or heat transfer.
  • Strong understanding of finite volume and/or finite element analysis and numerical methods.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent understanding of Python or MATLAB.
  • Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to balance several tasks at one time.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is $115,290 - $161,406 per year, based on location in California. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
