About the Opportunity

The University of Illinois Chicago Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement is seeking a talented and results-driven professional to join our team as a Director of Development. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our students, faculty, and staff while advancing the mission of our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of major and planned gift donors, employing strategic and tactical approaches to cultivate and solicit support.
  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate alumni and friends to support unit and University priorities.
  • Collaborate with deans, department heads, faculty, and Advancement colleagues to build a compelling case for support.
  • Present funding opportunities articulately and persuasively to prospects and donors.
  • Develop and promote engagement opportunities and relationships with assigned prospects to maximize their financial support.
  • Facilitate and coordinate communications with assigned prospects and among prospects' University relationships.
  • Track development activity and donor interactions in the fundraising database.
  • Work closely with portfolio management and researchers to review alumni/donor lists and identify donor prospects.
  • Assist with unit-based events and participate in unit- and University-wide events.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, liberal arts, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in development or a related field, preferably in an institution of higher learning.
  • Proven success in securing and conducting face-to-face meetings for major solicitations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, business development, organization, and computer/PC skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and fundraising software.
