Big Bend Community College is seeking a qualified Physics Instructor to join our team. As an Associate Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching algebra-based and calculus-based physics courses, engaging with students, and contributing to the college's mission.
Key Responsibilities- Teach physics courses, including algebra-based and calculus-based courses, as needed.
- Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to engage students and promote academic success.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, respecting student diversity and promoting a culture of equity and inclusion.
- Utilize Canvas, the college's learning management system, to provide students with course materials and gradebooks.
- Support students' academic success by maintaining regular office hours and referring students to college resources as needed.
- Assist with the development, selection, and recommendation of instructional materials for physics courses.
- Submit assessment data and participate in departmental meetings to contribute to the college's mission.
- Master's degree in Physics or a closely related field.
- Available and willing to teach in-person classes at Big Bend Community College.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ability, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Relevant teaching experience at the post-secondary level within the last 5 years.
- Experience implementing strategies to improve student success and retention.
- Experience with online learning, hybrid courses, learning management systems, video conferencing, and other instructional applications.
- Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency.
