Job Summary

Big Bend Community College is seeking a qualified Childcare Aide to join our team in the Childcare Center. As a Childcare Aide, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and healthy learning environment for children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing a safe and healthy learning environment for children.
  • Follow all state and federal regulations regarding instructional practices, fire, health, and safety standards.
  • Assist with supervision of children's activities and enter information into children's records.
  • Assist with observations, evaluations, and provide information for each child as requested by the childcare manager.
  • Follow Learning Center Childcare procedures to receive and discharge children from the center.
  • Assist children in developing social and self-help skills.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment by washing and disinfecting furniture, equipment, and toys.
  • Accurately maintain required records such as meal count, attendance, minor incident/accident reports, medical emergency reports, and child outcome records.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in training sessions.
  • Maintain agency confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff information.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have High School graduation or equivalent.
  • Negative results of TB Skin Test within the last 12 months.
  • Current Mumps, Measles, and Rubella immunity.
  • HIV/AIDS Bloodborne Pathogen Training within the last 12 months.
  • Current Basic First Aid/CPR for Infant/Child/Adult Certification.
  • Current Washington State Food Worker Card.
  • Completed (DCYF) Department of Children, Youth and Family approved Child Care Basics training or ECED 107 Health, Safety & Nutrition class.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, age, cultural, ability, and ethnic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • English/Spanish or English/Ukrainian/Russian proficiency.
