Administrative Support Specialist

Job Summary
The Administrative Support Specialist will provide administrative support to the division or department, performing a variety of moderately complex secretarial and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Interact effectively with the public, arranging meetings and drafting correspondence and reports.
- Work with minimal supervision, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks.
- Prepare, type, or process a variety of forms, documents, and correspondence, including requisitions, instruments, bills, payments, and receipts.
- Arrange meetings, prepare agendas, rosters, and related materials, and take minutes of meetings.
- Act as a liaison for the division or department, greeting visitors, screening and routing incoming calls, taking messages, and answering routine inquiries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program.
- Three (3) years of job-related experience or 45 hours of college or a combination of the two.
- Ability to type 50 wpm, with proficiency in using word processing and database software.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, organize and process work, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees and the general public.
Working Conditions
The Administrative Support Specialist will work in a fast-paced office environment, with frequent interactions with the public and other County employees. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, with minimal supervision.
