Position Overview

Job Summary

The Accountant is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reviewing financial statements in accordance with established accounting principles and enterprise allocation methods.


Qualifications

EDUCATION
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required. If the degree is in Finance, successful completion of Intermediate Accounting I & II is mandatory.

Employees within the accounting/finance function of the Enterprise who are actively enrolled in an accredited collegiate program in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance will be considered once they successfully complete Intermediate Accounting I & II.

EXPERIENCE
Prior experience in accounting is preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint).

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities

Assists with financial reporting audits, collaborating with internal audits, the Arkansas Insurance Department, independent auditors, and/or the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. May assist in special projects as directed. May be required to analyze and review financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. Performs general accounting functions, including but not limited to preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, accounting analysis, and reconciliation. Executes other duties as assigned. Prepares supporting financial data as required. Reconciles, confirms, and maintains general ledger accounts.

This position is classified as level three (3).
