Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Cook Helper at DeKalb Area Retirement Center. As a key member of our food service team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of food quality and service are maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve food for residents and staff, adhering to federal, state, and local regulations governing institutional food service safety and sanitation.
  • Provide exceptional service to residents during meal times, enhancing their overall well-being and dining experience.
  • Collaborate with the food service team to ensure seamless meal preparation and service.
  • Meet the requirements established by the Department of Food Service, including knowledge of nutrition, food preparation, and sanitation.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in sanitation from the State of Illinois preferred.
  • One year of experience in institutional food service; knowledge of nutrition, food preparation, and sanitation essential.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner; must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, both written and oral; must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Personal cleanliness and ability to follow rules and regulations for safety and sanitation in institutional food service required.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies in excess of 25 lbs. throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to stand and walk a minimum of 90% throughout the workday.
