Manager of Alternative Accounting Operations

Position Summary
As the Manager of Alternative Accounting Operations, you will oversee all facets of accounting functions executed by the team dedicated to Fidelity's alternative investment offerings. Your role will involve close collaboration with a team of associates engaged in accounting and pricing tasks, serving as the primary point of contact for daily operational requirements. You will provide leadership, guidance, and support while working alongside other team members within the business unit. This position demands a high level of expertise in reviewing daily deliverables, managing pivotal initiatives, evaluating business performance, and fostering relationship management. Given that this is a relatively new team within Fidelity, you may also need to be actively involved in operations, supporting intricate alternative funds and contributing to the development of processes and procedures. Furthermore, you will be dedicated to mentoring staff to facilitate their professional growth and development.
As a key member of the Alternative Accounting team, you will engage in operational duties, collaborate with various teams within FFIO, and interact with senior members of FFIO's organizations with a significant degree of autonomy.
Required Expertise and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred
- Over 5 years of experience in financial services
- Experience with Geneva is advantageous
- Proven management experience with the ability to lead a team and cultivate customer relationships in a dynamic environment
- Ability to provide constructive feedback, guidance, and support in the development and cross-training of analysts within the team
- Experience in creating operational processes and procedures for new product offerings
- Recognition and appreciation for contributions, initiative, and achievement of results
- Coordination and leadership of departmental workflows
- Participation in and implementation of strategies and initiatives set by senior leadership
- Recommendations for improvements to systems, processes, responsibilities, and reporting
- Coordination of testing for new technologies prior to implementation and reporting findings to peers and management
- Provision of technical leadership and serving as a resource for the group and other areas of Fidelity
- Monitoring and evaluation of the department's control environment; identification of potential issues and their implications on internal controls, with a focus on risk mitigation
- Escalation of operational incidents to senior management and the Risk team; management of the resolution process
- Leadership in maintaining relationships with business partners and ensuring service level expectations are met
The Alternative Accounting Team operates within the Fund Operations division of Fidelity's Fund and Investment Operations (FFIO) business unit. This division provides essential back-office operational support for Fidelity's Retail and Institutional products, including maintenance of books and records, pricing of securities, performance analysis at both fund and security levels, financial reporting, and tax-related tasks. The Alternative Accounting Team is responsible for delivering operational support and executing daily, monthly, and quarterly pricing and bookkeeping for Fidelity's alternative and digital products within FFIO.
