Job Overview:

Position Summary

As the Manager of Alternative Accounting Operations, you will oversee all facets of accounting activities conducted by the team dedicated to Fidelity's alternative investment offerings. Your role will involve close collaboration with a team of professionals executing accounting and pricing tasks, serving as the primary liaison for daily operational requirements while providing guidance, leadership, and support in conjunction with other team members within the business unit. This position necessitates expertise in reviewing daily deliverables, overseeing pivotal initiatives, evaluating business performance, and managing relationships. Given that this is a relatively new team within Fidelity, you may also need to engage directly in operations, supporting intricate alternative funds and assisting in the development of processes and procedures. Furthermore, the Manager is committed to mentoring staff to foster the team's development and growth.

As a vital member of the Alternative Accounting team, you will participate in operational duties, collaborate with various teams within FFIO, and engage with business partners across the organization, interacting with senior members of FFIO's divisions with a significant degree of autonomy.

Required Expertise and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred
  • Over 5 years of experience in financial services
  • Experience with Geneva software is advantageous
  • Proven management experience with the ability to lead a team and cultivate customer relationships in a dynamic environment
  • Provides constructive feedback, direction, and assists in the development and cross-training of analysts within the team
  • Develops operational processes and procedures for new product offerings
  • Recognizes and rewards contributions, initiative, and achievement of objectives
  • Coordinates and directs departmental workflows
  • Engages in and implements strategies and initiatives established by senior leadership
  • Recommends enhancements to systems, processes, responsibilities, and reporting
  • Oversees testing of new technologies prior to implementation and communicates results to peers and management
  • Offers technical leadership and serves as a resource for the group and other areas within Fidelity
  • Monitors and evaluates the department's control environment; identifies potential issues and their implications on internal controls, driving actions to mitigate risks
  • Escalates operational incidents to senior management and the Risk team; manages the resolution process
  • Maintains and develops relationships with business partners and manages service level expectations
About the Team

The Alternative Accounting Team operates within the Fund Operations division of Fidelity's Fund and Investment Operations (FFIO) business unit. This division provides essential back-office operational support for Fidelity's Retail and Institutional products, including maintenance of books and records, pricing of securities, performance analysis at both fund and security levels, financial reporting, and tax-related tasks. The Alternative Accounting Team is responsible for providing operational support and executing daily, monthly, and quarterly pricing and bookkeeping for Fidelity's alternative and digital products within FFIO.
