Lead EHS Compliance Officer

The Lead Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Officer will deliver expert environmental health and safety guidance to the organization. This position will advocate for enhancements to safeguard personnel and instruct staff through safety education initiatives and resources to avert incidents.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive EH&S initiatives and foster a safety-oriented culture through effective leadership and communication.
- Facilitate and deliver ongoing EH&S training for all personnel.
- Support new employee safety onboarding.
- Conduct regular safety audits; address outstanding concerns.
- Oversee emergency protocols, training sessions, and simulation drills.
- Administer chemical safety training and maintain continuous monitoring.
- Design and execute programs to educate supervisors and employees on compliance standards and enhance the safety culture within the organization.
- Examine work-related incidents, injuries, and illnesses to identify root causes.
- Collaborate with relevant EH&S professionals, hygienists, consultants, engineers, and suppliers to address the EH&S requirements of the organization.
- Assist in formulating effective EH&S strategies to consistently advance safety goals.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. Provide management with insights on compliance status, associated costs, and necessary technical improvements.
- Lead the safety committee, coordinating activities, recommendations, and accountability for identified concerns.
- Maintain EH&S reporting records and deliver statistical analyses as needed.
- Guarantee timely and accurate submission of all environmental reports.
- Manage OSHA 300 Log(s).
- Oversee multiple operational sites.
- Administer Workers' Compensation and relevant FMLA programs in accordance with company policies.
- Engage and support Human Resources initiatives.
- Act as a positive leader and mentor by demonstrating and teaching desirable behaviors, culture, and skill sets.
- Organize workspace and departmental materials according to 6S principles.
- Maintain documentation for applicable programs.
- Ensure a safe and tidy work environment, rectifying any unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Perform other related and unrelated tasks as assigned through on-the-job training.
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is mandatory.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in EH&S/Safety is essential.
- Comprehensive understanding of EH&S policies and procedures.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to uphold confidentiality.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations.
- Exceptional training capabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills along with organizational abilities.
- Travel may be necessary.
- This role is classified as Sedentary Work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally.
- This position entails the following physical activities: standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and the use of hands, wrists, or fingers in repetitive motions.
- The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at close distances.
- This position primarily operates in an office setting but will require engagement on the production floor. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment.
