About The Snug

The Snug is a reputable restaurant seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking dishes to our high standards, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, and collaborating with our Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager to ensure seamless execution of our menu items.

Responsibilities
  • Menu Execution: Prepare and cook dishes according to our recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every meal.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Leadership: Collaborate with our Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager to maintain proper execution on all menu items, providing guidance and support to junior kitchen staff.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor food inventory and ensure timely and proper storage of supplies, minimizing waste and optimizing resources.
  • Training and Development: Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Sous Chef/Lead Line Cook or similar role in a reputable restaurant.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Inventory Management: Ability to manage ordering and inventory, ensuring timely and proper storage of supplies.
  • Culinary Expertise: Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Time Management: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with attention to detail and a passion for high-quality dishes.
  • Certifications: CA ServeSafe certified, with culinary experience preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The Snug is a fast-paced kitchen environment, with equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, steamers, mixers, and chef's knives. Candidates must be able to stand for 8+ hours, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, and climb stairs. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers, management, and ownership in English is essential.
