Patient Care Coordinator I

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Department Lead and/or Manager, this role is accountable for precise and prompt patient scheduling and registration.
Appointment scheduling; the collection and entry of patient demographics, and verification of insurance coverage. Upholds the highest standards of patient confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA regulations. Responsible for the accurate, timely, and thorough registration and insurance verification of Duly Health and Care patients.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinates patient appointments in alignment with scheduling protocols and policies to ensure optimal outcomes for patients and healthcare providers.
Quality and Accuracy (70%)
- Demonstrates proficiency in scheduling across three distinct modalities or specialties
- Directs clinical calls to Triage as necessary
- Manages appointment cancellations and rescheduling as per patient requests
- Consults scheduling guidelines and protocols to ensure precise scheduling
- Reviews and updates patient demographic and insurance details as required
- Responds to switchboard inquiries and directs patients to the appropriate department
- Sends after-hours physician notifications for inpatient and outpatient inquiries
- Responds to incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner using the designated greeting and name
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Concludes each call appropriately
- Attends meetings as necessary, responsible for maintaining and acquiring accurate and current resource materials
- Participates in the rotation of departmental responsibilities and undertakes additional projects and duties related to organizational review
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED is mandatory
- Exceptional communication and organizational abilities
- Prior experience in a call center and/or medical scheduling environment is preferred
- Familiarity with healthcare terminology is advantageous
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and typing skills
- Develops and adheres to appropriate processes and procedures for task completion
- Capable of balancing technical solutions with business and interpersonal considerations
