Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Duly Health and Care. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our laboratory operations and ensuring the highest quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy procedures on adult and pediatric patients, utilizing aseptic protocols to collect blood samples.
- Monitor and inventory laboratory supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Centrifuge, store, and retrieve samples, discarding expired samples in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Answer laboratory phones and respond to staff messages in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist technologists in locating and retrieving specimens for add-on testing, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
- Perform water testing and instrument maintenance, adhering to laboratory standards and protocols.
- Make copies, fax results, and refill printer paper as needed, maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Monitor laboratory section pending lists and staff messages, ensuring timely completion of tasks and effective communication.
- Perform end-of-shift duties, including disinfecting counters and draw chairs, cleaning tube racks, and discarding analyzer waste.
- Assist in processing bone marrows, setting up post-vasectomy slides, and performing Clinitek QC and patient testing.
- Spin tubes for urine microscopy and set up microscopes for technologists, ensuring accurate and efficient testing.
- Scan specimens from spokes and separate/rack specimens for Dimension/Centaur/Hematology/Coag testing.
- During analyzer downtime, prepare packing lists and ensure seamless laboratory operations.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience as a phlebotomist, with moderate knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal, written, and clerical skills, with strong verbal communication and phone skills.
- At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting.
