Key Responsibilities

Exciting Opportunities Await:

Under the supervision of a cardiologist and a radiologist, the Cardiac Imaging Technologist will carry out a range of intricate diagnostic cardiac CT procedures from start to finish. This includes performing cardiac CT scans, accurately gathering patient histories, and initiating IVs. The Cardiac Imaging Technologist will ensure a supportive imaging environment for our patients and serve as a liaison between patients and the cardiologist/radiologist.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Technical Duties:
    • Utilize computer applications for scanning and quality control on the scanner.
    • Complete daily paperwork and adhere to established protocols.
    • Provide the cardiologist/radiologist with high-quality networked images.
    • Maintain technical proficiency through ongoing education and participation in training programs.
    • Conduct equipment quality checks and troubleshoot issues; coordinate service calls and notify relevant team members.
    • Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
  • Clinical Duties:
    • Gather pertinent patient history.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in IV starts and injections.
    • Maintain knowledge of radiation safety to minimize exposure in all aspects of examinations, equipment operation, medical waste handling, patient safety, and compliance with applicable regulations.
    • Administer IV and oral contrast under the guidance of the site cardiologist/radiologist, following site-specific protocols.
    • Perform examinations of designated anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards and protocols.
    • Maintain a current IEMA license for CT; complete 24 hours of continuing education every two years.
  • Professional Duties:
    • Ensure patient care, comfort, and safety throughout the examination process.
    • Engage professionally with the cardiologist/radiologist, nursing staff, site managers, clerical personnel, and patients.
    • Clearly explain CT procedures to patients.
    • Adhere to quality assurance guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.
    • Comply with all imaging policies and procedures.
    • Follow all safety regulations, including those related to radiation safety.
    • Perform additional duties as necessary for conducting CT scans.
Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Licensure / Certification:

ARRT Registered Technologist, RT(CT)

Current IEMA license

BLS - Basic Life Support, AED Adult CPR

Education:

Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program.

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year performing cardiac CT scans, including coronary CTAs, pulmonary vein CTAs, gated aortic CTAs, structural heart disease examinations, and coronary artery calcium scoring. Experience collaborating with cardiac nurses for effective rate control during studies is preferred. Familiarity with the Tera Recon Aquarius workstation and GE CT scanners is advantageous but not mandatory.
