KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Thoroughly reviews and comprehends all protocols outlined in departmental manuals.
Achieves complete familiarity with all laboratory equipment and instruments following appropriate training and competency assessments.
Participates in and executes routine maintenance tasks on a weekly and monthly basis.
Possesses a solid understanding of all essential functions related to Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Provides support to phlebotomists and specimen processors as needed.
Prepares necessary reagents in accordance with established laboratory standards.
Conducts tests as specified in the procedure manual, under the supervision of the laboratory manager, within designated timeframes.
Maintains documentation that verifies proficiency testing samples are processed similarly to patient samples.
Implements all calibration and quality control protocols.
Regularly monitors supply levels and places orders as directed.
Communicates patient results as instructed by the laboratory manager.
Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Exhibits flexibility as assignments evolve.
Ensures cleanliness and organization of the workspace and equipment.
Maintains a professional demeanor at all times.
Assists the laboratory manager in evaluating test outcomes when requested.
Supports the laboratory manager in troubleshooting equipment and procedural issues when needed.
Contributes to the training and orientation of new staff members as directed by the manager.
Adheres to all OSHA regulations applicable to InterMed.
Familiarizes oneself with and complies with all personnel policies and procedures.
Maintains positive public relations with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
Engages in ongoing quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with the laboratory manager.

QUALIFICATIONS
ASCP Certified Medical Technologist (Bachelor's Degree) OR ASCP Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (Associate's Degree) OR HEW Certified.
Possession of ASCP certification or the ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.

Demonstrated ability to perform clinical laboratory tests following established protocols, report results accurately and promptly to the attending provider, assist in the upkeep of laboratory equipment and environment, communicate any issues or unusual findings to the laboratory manager, and maintain relevant skills and knowledge in laboratory medicine.

Capability to oversee the technical activities of laboratory assistants, ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment, and guarantee the availability of necessary supplies and reagents, while regularly conducting and documenting quality control procedures.


WORK SCHEDULE
Saturday 9 AM - 2 PM, totaling 5 hours per week.
