Respiratory Care Specialist (Part-Time)

Location: South Portland, Maine

Overview: KMA Human Resources Consulting is collaborating with a reputable healthcare provider in the search for a part-time Respiratory Care Specialist to join their team in South Portland.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field.
  • Preferred credentialing by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT or RPFT).
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential is advantageous but not mandatory. If RRT, an active State of Maine license is required.
  • In-depth understanding of pulmonary function testing and laboratory protocols.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in pulmonary function testing is preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Availability to work on-site Monday through Friday in South Portland, Maine, with no evening or weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measure vital signs and collect arterial blood gas samples.
  • Conduct a variety of pulmonary function tests, including spirometry with bronchodilator, plethysmography, diffusing capacity, and more.
  • Document all testing and patient care activities in the electronic medical record system.
  • Prepare, maintain, and calibrate testing equipment.
  • Oversee the operations of the Pulmonary Function Testing Lab.
  • Ensure adherence to quality control standards.
  • Complete necessary preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines for troubleshooting and repairs, as well as manage supply orders.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and safeguard practice operations.
  • Ensure a safe and hygienic working environment by adhering to established procedures and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
