This position is part of the A1B Propulsion Plant Planning Yard (PPPY) Reactor Department Liaison (RDL) group, requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of naval nuclear plant principles of operation, maintenance, and support.
Key Responsibilities- Apply electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles to assist key stakeholders in the maintenance, operation, and modifications for Ford Class Propulsion Plants.
- Facilitate engineering support for first-time quality, non-routine, difficult, or high man-hour maintenance evolutions.
- Promote knowledge transfer from ship-to-ship, identify workload drivers, and assist in Ship's Force design change recommendations.
- Support and participate in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- 9 years of relevant exempt experience, or Master's Degree with 7 years of experience, or Ph.D. with 4 years of experience.
- A1B propulsion plant senior watch standing qualification experience is preferred.
- Navy senior leadership experience E7 or above desired, and ideally previously demonstrated experience in the supervision, operation, and maintenance of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Systems.
- Familiarity with Newport News Shipbuilding New Construction policies, operations, and waterfront representatives.
