Job Title: Electromechanical Engineer 3

Join HII's Newport News Shipbuilding as an Electromechanical Engineer 3 and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of advanced electromechanical systems for the U.S. Navy's nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist system owning engineers with the selection, application, and implementation of Cyber-based security controls on various network systems.
  • Interpret requirements for inclusion in purchase documents and specifications.
  • Develop compliance and assessment reports for submission to NAVSEA.
  • Apply electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles to components and systems.
  • Support and participate in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 5 years of relevant exempt experience or Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience or Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
  • Experience with the systems engineering process, particularly development of functional requirements from general requirements.
  • Previous experience with RMF and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), including System Security Plan (SSP) and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) development.
  • Hands-on experience implementing security features on various network and computing technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Industrial Control Systems (ICS), including assessment.
  • Hands-on experience with Navy shipboard systems, particularly HM&E.
  • DoD 8570 recognized certification (i.e., Security+, Network+, CCNA, etc.) preferred.
