Job Summary
Fitness Connection is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Exercise Instructor to lead our members in a group environment through a pre-arranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength, and endurance. As a Group Exercise Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a motivational and fun environment for all participants, while ensuring the safety of the members is not compromised.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrive at class location 10 to 15 minutes ahead of scheduled start time to be available to interact with members, answer questions, and introduce new participants.
- Prepare appropriate music for class, ensuring it is free from offensive language.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and have microphones ready.
- Participate in events to promote your class format(s) as needed throughout the year.
- Introduce yourself and the format of the class, and continually monitor participants to ensure all are using correct form.
- Offer variations of the routine to accommodate all fitness levels and create a positive and professional attitude towards responsibilities, fellow employees, and members.
- Uphold Fitness Connection's Mission and Values by delivering group exercise classes that meet or exceed company standards.
- Engage in opportunities to positively interact with members and solicit feedback from participants about the class.
Requirements
- Knowledge of safe exercise techniques and group exercise principles.
- Knowledge of basic physiology and body mechanics.
- Performance of a variety of exercise routines.
- Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment.
- Current national GXI certification and CPR AED certification and basic first-aid training.
Physical Demands
- Physical demands include, but are not limited to, bending, squatting, jumping, running, reaching, walking, hopping, spinning, and kicking, and the ability to lift 20 lb weights.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business-related documents, and effectively present information to members.
Additional Responsibilities
- Make sure that class begins and ends promptly, and if necessary, make adjustments to the flow of the class to ensure adherence to the schedule.
- Attend all required staff meetings as necessary.
- Ensure that proper time recording procedures are followed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards responsibilities, fellow employees, and members.
Qualifications
- Must have company-approved current national GXI certification.
- Must have/obtain CPR AED certification and basic first-aid training.
