About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Free Trade Specialist to join our team at the Cato Institute in Washington, DC.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of international economics and US trade policy, as well as excellent analytical and writing skills. This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented team of researchers and contribute to the development of innovative solutions to complex trade policy issues.

About the Role

The Free Trade Specialist will be responsible for analyzing international trade policy, conducting research, and producing high-quality studies and reports. This role requires strong quantitative skills, including experience with econometric methods and data analysis software packages such as Stata or R.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analyses of international trade policy and its impact on the US economy
  • Develop and implement research projects to inform trade policy decisions
  • Produce high-quality studies, reports, and other materials to communicate findings to policymakers and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other researchers and analysts to identify opportunities for trade liberalization and develop strategies to promote free trade

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in economics or a related field, with an advanced degree preferred
  • At least two years of experience in trade policy, economics, or research
  • A strong understanding of US international trade policy and its impact on the economy
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to non-technical audiences
