Southland Holdings LLC is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to contribute to our engineering team. This role is essential for providing engineering solutions that support construction activities.

As a vital member of a focused group of seasoned structural engineers, you will collaborate directly with field engineers and construction superintendents to devise effective solutions for intricate challenges. This position offers the chance to engage with diverse materials and construction methodologies throughout various projects across the nation. We are looking for a creative and driven individual to fill this unique structural engineering role, which is based in our design office. Occasional travel may be required for project visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all structural and segment design tasks, including foundations, elevated formwork cycles, cranes, layout and controls, steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and excavation shoring.
  • Develop technical reports and submission packages addressing specific design challenges related to each project.
  • Manage all design activities for assigned projects, including constructability assessments, generating RFIs, and coordinating with field teams regarding preferred methods, sequencing, and requirements.
  • Guide, mentor, and supervise junior engineers.
  • Lead and engage in technical discussions with field personnel and clients.
  • Conduct reviews of submittals and shop drawings (e.g., rebar, tendons, stud-rails, concrete, etc.). Ensure all necessary shop drawings, plans, mix designs, special material approvals, and other documents are submitted and approved before work commencement.
Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years of experience in the heavy civil construction sector.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in any state.
  • Experience in Bridges and Structures.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel, and common scheduling software is advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret and understand contract documents, including drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) team.
  • Familiarity with industry practices, processes, and standards.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering from an ABET Accredited University.
  • A Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
