Position Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to contribute to our projects. This role is essential for providing engineering expertise to support construction operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of experienced structural engineers and will engage directly with field engineers and superintendents to devise practical solutions for complex challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all structural and segment design tasks, including foundations, elevated formwork cycles, cranes, layout and controls, steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and excavation shoring.
- Develop technical reports and submission packages addressing specific design challenges for each project.
- Manage design activities related to assigned projects, including constructability reviews, developing Requests for Information (RFIs), and coordinating with field teams on preferred techniques and requirements.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers, fostering their professional development.
- Lead and participate in technical discussions with field personnel and clients.
- Ensure compliance with the submittal and shop drawing review process, verifying that all necessary documents are submitted and approved prior to the commencement of work.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the heavy civil construction sector.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in any state.
- Experience in Bridges and Structures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and common scheduling software.
- Ability to interpret contract documents, including drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with the Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) team.
- Familiarity with industry practices, processes, and standards.
Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering from an ABET Accredited University.
- A Master's degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
