Position Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Las Palmas Medical Center and the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. Collaborating with patients, their families, and the healthcare team, the RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates treatment plans tailored to the needs of endoscopy patients and staff.

The Endoscopy RN works alongside other healthcare professionals, including physicians, to ensure high-quality care; utilizes the nursing process to deliver professional nursing care; fosters customer service skills in interactions with all stakeholders; engages in unit Quality Improvement initiatives; and maintains an environment conducive to quality patient care through effective resource management. The RN serves as an advocate for patients and families, safeguarding their privacy and confidentiality, while planning and executing patient care and education based on comprehensive assessments.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Licensure permitting the practice of professional nursing in Texas.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification (within 6 months for new graduates).
  • Conscious sedation certification (within 3 months for new graduates).
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • 1-2 years of nursing experience.
  • ADN or BSN degree.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to assist with lifting over 100 pounds with support from colleagues.
  • Capability to lead a team and manage time effectively to ensure quality patient care.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize needs.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • Experience in Endoscopy preferred.
  • Specialty certification as applicable.
  • Able to identify Cardiac Dysrhythmias.
